Emma Louise Backe is a medical anthropologist who works on gender-based violence, trauma, and reproductive health issues. She received her M.A. from George Washington University and currently works as a subcontractor with the United States Agency for International Development. She is the managing editor of The Geek Anthropologist and an active member of the D.C. resistance, working to combat street harassment and improve the care provided to survivors of sexual violence.
